A centrifugal pump is made up of six essential components, namely the impeller, pump body, pump shaft, bearing, sealing ring, and stuffing box. These parts function cohesively to ensure the smooth functioning of the pump. The impeller rotates within the pump body, and the pump shaft connects the impeller to the motor. The bearing provides support for the pump shaft, while the sealing ring creates a tight seal to prevent leakage. The stuffing box provides additional support for the sealing ring and helps to contain any potential leaks. The centrifugal pump's impeller is vital, as its high speed and output make it the heart of the device. The blades located on it are essential components that serve a crucial purpose. The impeller must undergo a static balance examination before the assembly process. Additionally, its surface's inner and outer sides should have a level of smoothness to reduce water flow resistance, leading to less friction loss.

The primary role of the pump shaft is to establish a connection between the motor and the coupling, allowing for the transfer of torque from the motor to the impeller. As such, it serves as the main component responsible for transmitting mechanical energy throughout the system.
When using a sliding bearing, it is crucial to use transparent oil as a lubricant and fill it up to the oil level line. Overfilling the oil will lead to seepage along the pump shaft, while inadequate oiling will cause the bearing to overheat and potentially cause accidents. During pump operation, the bearing temperature can reach 85°C, but it generally should run around 60°C to ensure safe and efficient operation. Therefore, maintaining proper oil lubrication levels is crucial for the longevity and safety of the sliding bearing.
The leakage reducing ring, commonly known as the sealing ring, serves the same purpose.
The stuffing box is comprised of several important components, such as the packing gland, packing tube, packing itself, water seal ring and water seal pipe. Its primary function is to keep water from flowing out of the pump while also preventing extraneous air from entering. It's crucial to maintain a vacuum inside the pump by closing the gap between the casing and shaft. In order to maintain regular pump operation, water seal pipes are used to cool the packing and prevent heating generated by friction between the packing and the pump shaft. Consequently, when examining the pump's operation, priority should be placed on inspecting the stuffing box. After 600 hours of operation, the packing must be replaced. The impeller, which is fixed at one end of the pump shaft, has a coupling installed on the other end. Depending on the size of the pump, rolling bearings and sliding bearings may be required.
